How to Clean Thermofoil Cabinet Doors
As homeowners, we spend a good chunk of time in the kitchen. After a while, you’re going to start to see food splatter, water stains, and grease build up on your cabinet doors.
For kitchen cabinetry that looks as good as the day you got them, it’s important to clean your thermofoil cabinet doors regularly. This not only makes your kitchen look fabulous but also adds to the longevity of the doors.
How often should I clean my cabinet doors?
For both your kitchen and bathroom, the cabinet doors should be cleaned at least once a month.
What cleaning solution should I use?
When cleaning your cabinet doors, we recommend avoiding the use of harsh chemicals. It’s best to use a standard household all-purpose cleaner that is scrub-free and nonabrasive or even just a mixture of soap and water.
Avoid lacquer, thinners, bleaches, or cleaners containing solvents or abrasives. Never use cleaners with toluene or acetone.
If you have glass cabinets, we recommend using Windex or a vinegar and water solution.
How do I clean my cabinet doors?
Avoid spraying the cleaning solution directly onto the cabinet door. Instead, spray it on a paper towel and then use that to wipe down the cabinet doors. Be sure that your paper towel isn’t drenched in the solution. You want it to be damp. Remember, a little goes a long way!
Using a paper towel to clean your cabinet doors is great because it won’t scratch the doors.
After you’ve wiped down your cabinet doors with a solution, dampen a paper towel with water and give the doors a final wipe down. This will help remove any residue leftover from the cleaning solution.
How do I clean grease stains?
The best way to remove grease from your cabinets is to use a degreasing agent or cleaner. This can be found at your local hardware store. Alternatively, nail polish remover, which is acetone-free, can also remove grease stains without damaging your doors.
